Yesterday was the first day of 4th grade for the princess - Madisen! I cannot believe how quickly this summer has gone. The first day really came up on us fast! Here are some pictures of Madisen on her first day of 4th grade. I can remember my 4th grade year. It is strange because I can only remember bits and pieces of other grade school years, but 4th really sticks out in my mind. I had a hard teacher, but it had to be one of my favorite years too.
Madisen is in a 4th/5th grade split class. I really like her teacher and I am impressed with her organization skills!! It will be an interesting year, and one that I KNOW Madisen will be challenged. Good luck princess!! We love you!!!

Imagination anyone?
Ok so let me explain these pictures. Anyone that has ever gone shopping with me knows that I am the biggest "sucker" for the clearance and sales racks. In fact, most things I buy are only off sales racks. My sister Alicha and I were at Roberts yesterday looking for a clock kit. (Which they no longer have....AARGH!!) Anyway - we hit some major clearance tables. I keep thinking..."I really should just not even look and walk away".....Did I? Heavens no!!! Once again the "sucker" in me just wanted "to look".....I found the most awesome find of all. PIPE CLEANERS! These are Madisen's favorite craft item and she loves to create all things possible with them. They can keep her entertained for HOURS!!!! The best part of all was that they were 90% off. I think I paid a total of 14 cents for each package. See why I love the clearance racks so much?

Madisen's 8th birthday
So I know this is way late...but we have been just a little busy.
Here are pictures from Madisen's family 8th birthday party. We went to Riverton City Park and had pizza, chips, cookies and soda. It was FREEZING!!! All of the kids played on the playground and she opened presents. She was totally and completely spoiled. Thanks a million to everyone that was able to attend.

Ear Piercing for Madisen
Ok. So I know that my little princess is definitely growing up. She has been begging us for over a year to let her get her ears pierced. I told her that if she received a 100% on her spelling test that I would let her. She did it!! So on Saturday- May 3rd her dad took her to the mall to have her ears pierced. You may be asking why her own mother did not take her. I have to be honest. I just could not do it. I can remember being 10 and having my ears pierced and it hurt like crazy!! I could not watch someone hurt my girl like that. So - Madisen's dad was the brave one and took her. Great job dad! The earrings look great!!

More Madisen dialogue
Madisen was in the car with my sister Laurel and her husband Dayn coming home from Dayn's parents house. They live off of Bangeter Highway and 13400 South. There is a new Wal-mart that just opened there. There were some deer in the road. Laurel and Dayn told Madisen to look at the deer.
Madisen took a look at all the deer that were in the road. Madisen told Laurel and Dayn - What are those deer doing in the road? Don't they know that they should not be on the road? They should be on the sidewalk!!!!

Madisen dialogue
Ok. So last week when the Jazz were up 2 games to the Rockets, Jared and Madisen were watching the game. The Jazz had their "B" team in which is mostly black players. I was on the computer working on who knows what. Anyway - I overheard the following conversation:
Madisen: Daddy
Jared: Yes
Madisen: Do you have to be black to play basketball?
Jared: (Trying not to bust up laughing) No - why?
Madisen: It seems most of the players on the Jazz are black.
Jared: Some are, but there are other that are not.
Madisen: Like who - I don't see any playing right now.
Jared: (With a huge smile) Well, there is Harpring, A.K., Okur, Korver and Fesenko.
Madisen: But are the players that are black, are they better than the white players?
Jared: No, not necessarily.
Madisen: Then why are only black players playing right now.
Jared: I don't know, go ask your mother.
At this point I am practically rolling on the floor with laughter. Such an observate kid now, huh?

Random thoughts of a 7 almost 8 year old!
A fellow blogger friend asked her 4 year old to finish these sentences. I was laughing so hard. I thought - ok - let's see how Madisen who is 7 almost 8 years old will finish these sentences. Some of them are hilarious and others are down right silly. I was surprised that she actually knew some of these! Enjoy!!
